Inglewood Active Transportation Plan
THIS IS YOUR CITY, THIS IS YOUR PLAN
To succeed, help is needed from a broad-spectrum of stakeholders - - elected officials, members of neighborhood associations, non-profits, recreational, environmental, business, faith-based, business and community organizations, property owners, residents, and other interested persons. The process will be a collaboration that brings a wide range of people together who are working toward a common goal.
WHAT IS THE PLAN?
Also known as the "ATP" the Inglewood Active Transportation and Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan will establish a vision for the City and will guide the community toward a future where active transportation is a viable option for all ages who live, work, and play within its borders.
For example: Where should bikeways and improved pedestrian crossings be placed?
The Plan will also create access to a public transit system that connects Inglewood to the greater Los Angeles region and establishes a network to address the needs of the transit dependent, recreational users --and those looking for an alternative.
WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS
It’s a new era in Inglewood. The City is undertaking the development of an Active Transportation Plan (ATP) that incorporates bicycle, pedestrian, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) considerations and Safe Routes to School (SRTS) analysis and planning.
WHO WILL CREATE THE PLAN
City staff will not be alone in bringing the Plan to fruition. A consultant team will be assisted by community members and other key stakeholders will be asked for their input through community workshops. In addition to community participation, the project will benefit from the guidance of a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) comprised of representatives from various community partners, such as the Inglewood Unified School District, Los Angeles County Public Health Department, the Social Justice Learning Institute, Los Angeles County Bike Coalition, and City departments. Regularly scheduled meetings will be held to share information, collaborate, and guide the process.
